The Effect of aquatic exercise on balance in patients with lower extremity fractured

Abstract
Background : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of aquatic exercise on balance and gait ability in patients with lower limb fracture caused by tr affic accidents at K rehabilitation center in Gyeonggi-do, Korea. This study extracted 34 subjects. However, except for four patients who did not meet time due to discharge, a total of 30 patients and 15 patients in each group were evaluated with the approval of the Institutional Review Board of Eulji University.

Methods : Before and after the experiment, the subjects were evaluated by using Bio-rescure system. A total of 8 weeks were divided into two groups: Aquatic exer cise and Land exercise for 30 minutes twice a week.

Results : The changes of the forward?backward?left?right movement range befo re and after the aquatic exercise and land exercise showed significant differenc e. The difference of the forward?backward?left?right movement range was no sign ificant difference between groups. but improved in aquatic exercise group than la nd exercise group. backward?left?right improved in land exercise group than aqua tic exercise group.

Conclusion : The results of this study showed that both aquatic exercise and the land exercise were effective in patients with fractures caused by traffic acci dents, but there were no significant differences between the groups.
